Agricom.id, JAKARTA – The member of Commission IV Indonesian Legislators, Julie Sutrisno told to prioritize every activity that is positive to develop the economy nationally and the budget retrenchment in Ministry of Agriculture Indonesian Republic should not stray to the programs in people – base. He gave example that Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L) is one program to optimize the yards (in each people’s house) as the source of food for every family.

“P2L really significantly contributes to the people’s welfare in pandemic, namely to reduce cash to buy but fulfill the food in every family,” she said in the hearing of Commission IV and Ministry of Agriculture, Tuesday (02/02/2021) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

She also mentioned that in the pandemic like now, the people are very helpful with P2L program for they could fulfill their food from their own yards.

The other member of Commission IV, Muhtarom also mentioned that it needs to optimize P2L as one program which has something to do with the people.

“In the pandemic like now, we do hope that P2L should be developed more because it could directly increase the economic security and food access for every family,” he said.

Commission IV also encouraged to minimally retrench the budget to P2L program to fulfill food and conquer the poverty.

P2L is part of 2 programs in agricultural develop to support food security that Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo told in many chances. Through Badan Ketahanan Pangan Ministry of Agriculture, P2L runs within the goal, to increase the availability, accessibility, and advantage food. In its progress, P2L is about to fulfill and produce food for the family and multiply the income for the family as well. (A2)
