Agricom.id, BOGOR - Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) visited greenhouse cultivated by Pondok Pesantren (Ponpes) Al-Ghazali Bogor, Sunday (21/2/2021).

SYL together with the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugiarto, the member of Indonesian Legislators from Bogor, Ecky Awal Mucharam, and leader of Ponpes Al Ghazaly, KH Mustofa Abdullah, did spinach crops which was developed in hydroponic system.

SYL did welcome and appreciate what Ponpes Al Ghazaly does to advantage every area to be used as the place of food source.

“The work in agriculture is the order of Prophet and Allah. He went to sky and across transcendence. Providing food as source of life is something honorable,” the man who is always called as Commandant told.

That is why cultivating agriculture, he thought, could not be lonely done, should involve others. “I am so happy. This day, the collaborative works are shown and could be done and have real result. Ponpes, the legislator, regional government, and Bank of Indonesia could be in synergy. Ministry of Agriculture is ready to support, Mayor," he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

In the pandemic, he thought that food security is crucial. That is why if contraction and turbulence happen in agriculture, it needs cooperation and collaboration with others.

“Each of us could play the role by advantaging every area. Everyone could do agriculture in front of the hose, environment of ponpes within urban farming concept,” he mentioned.

Ministry of Agriculture intensively takes others to develop agriculture, including ponpes through ‘santri milenial pertanian’ program.

A student (santri) for Ministry of Agriculture is a special figure because he reflects the good character both in the spirit and science whose would be potential to develop integrated agricultural system to support agricultural independency.

As a matter of fact, each ponpes could have the vast areas and would be potentially developed as agricultural areas by involving their students.

“Indonesia has the big hope. When the students graduate from the ponpes, they would have ability as entrepreneur in agriculture. It would be better if they could be as job seekers and job creators,” he said. (A2)
