Agricom.id, LAMPUNG – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) did appreciate Lampung Province as the biggest food provider nationally. In 2019, the province could produce paddy in the sixth highest producer in Indonesia.

"During the pandemic, the agriculture positively developed 16,24%. The exports did good too reaching Rp 258 billion. Accompanied by Governor of Lampung, Arinal Djunaidi; the member of Indonesian Legislators, Hanan A Rozak; and other first echelon of ministry of agriculture, SYL hoped that Lampung could maintain and even increase the production though facing lots of land use.

General Director of Food Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi said that his side is committed to distribute helps to the cultivation, post-harvest handling, and modal facility through kredit usaha rakyat (KUR).

Specifically in Central Lampung, Suwandi thought that the district plays important role to multiply the paddy production. His side also distributed the paddy seeds help and post – harvest tools.

He also asked for the farmers to get KUR through kostraling (komando strategis penggilingan padi) to secure the price of grain. It means that when the harvest season, the farmers would have no cheaper price.

“We have prepared KUR for the food commodity. Please, take it well, namely the paddy milling, please use it to get and buy the farmers’ grain within the proper price,” he said.

Governor of Lampung, Arinal Djunaidi also told that KUR in agriculture reached Rp 1,5 billion in Lampung or 61,95% of the target.

“KUR in Lampung is in the fifth rank nationally after East Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and West Java, Minister Syahrul,” he said.

He did hope that Lampung could be one locomotive of agricultural development nationally that could give impact to the farmers’ economy and the economy in a whole. (A2)
