Agricom.id, JAKARTA - Ministry of agriculture massively implements the breakthroughs to increase the main food production by using the agricultural tools, the mechanism in special. This is the real thing to increase the farmers’ income and welfare.

Head of Food Plantation, Agriculture Agency, District of Bandung, Ina Dewi Kania said that the agriculture harvest mechanism that ministry of agriculture implements by using the tools, such as, combine harvester  is really helpful to develop the agriculture and the farmers themselves in Bandung. It is proven that combine harvester could minimize the harvest losses significantly and the farmers got the advantages.

“The conventional harvest ways take some time. The losses may reach 8 percent in average. The agricultural mechanism by using combine harvester could minimize the losses up to 6 percent. The losses might be about two percent only,” she said when harvesting and socializing the combine harvester in Village of Bojongemas, Monday (19/10/20) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

She also mentioned that before using the tools, the production was about 6,3 tons per hectare (ha). But after using combine harvester, the harvest increased. Besides, the harvest the tool is the solution because it is difficult to get harvesters when massive harvest takes place though it is possible to get the harvesters.

“By using the combine harvester, there is a solution from the difficult ways to get harvesters and the harvest was running fast. It could anticipate the situation when the harvest takes place in the same time and there would be not lack of harvesters,” she said.

Ina also told that the farmers in Village of Bojongemas, Sub district of harvested 480 ha of paddy field. They used big combine harvester which was independently bought. In the previous, they used power thresher, small combine but Ina thought that the production was not optimal yet.

“By the big combine harvester, the harvest is more effective and efficient in time. It run fast because it took two hours to harvest one hectare paddy field. The grain did not spread and the losses were two percent only. We did not have to clean the grain and put into the bag,” she said.

In other place, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) emphasized that the optimization of agricultural tools is the way to increase the agricultural development in Indonesia, namely to realize the food security. The modern mechanism, such as, combine harvester could increase the paddy production for the next years.

“I do hope that by the technology, there would be no decreasing production. Use the sophisticated tools to increase the production, food security, and exports,” SYL said.

General Director of Food Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi said that the agriculture in technology runs in many regions. This is about to be efficient, to increase the productivity and additional values, and in the end, it increases the economy of this nation.

“To realize the commitment to develop the food security nationally, increasing the strategic food production, such as, paddy is done by implementing the better, more independent, and modern agricultural concept. The combine harvester would reduce the losses but accelerate the farmers to process the soil and plant again,” he said.

Suwandi also mentioned that ministry of agriculture encouraged the mechanism and facilitated the farmers to get fund from kredit usaha rakyat (KUR) from the banks. In the future they could develop, be more independent and modern to fulfill their needs to increase the food production.

"Ministry of agriculture and the banks would ease the farmers to get modal so that their business would be easier and more independent. The acceleration of land cultivation in the dry areas or paddy field within good water could be something easily done,” he said. (A2)
