Agricom.id, JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo encouraged the long term economic recovery in Asean and global in a whole, particularly in food and forestry sectors. It needs to do knowing that food is the main needs and every side needs to struggle for it namely in the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are involved in arranging ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF) and this is the serious evidence of Indonesia to have the better and productive ASEAN," General Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Momon Rusmono as the representative of Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo in the 42nd Asean Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF), Thursday (22/10/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.
Momon thought that for all these years, ministry of agriculture actively realizes the food security in the regional and global level, namely in the Asean framework. The government keeps encouraging that the agriculture plays important roles to create employment in the villages and increase the farmers’ economy.
“The farmers play vital roles to fulfill the food for more than 273 million citizens of Indonesia. That is why the farmers’ exchange rate increased 101,66 compared to it in August 2020 which reached 100,65," he said.
He also mentioned that ministry of agriculture implements the ‘Empat Cara Bertindak’ policy to maintain the food availability in the new norm era, such as, increase the production capacity and food stock.
“Do food diversification in local wisdom – base, advantage the house yards and marginal areas, and develop the modern agriculture,” he said.
For information, it was ‘back to back’ meeting with the 20th AMAF plus Three by involving China, Japan, and Korea and the 6th AIMMAF ke-6 by involving India. (A2)
