InfoSAWIT, KEEROM – Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesian Republic seriously takes care the susceptible food security in many regions. It is realized by Family Farming Program.

Head of Badan Ketahanan Pangan (BKP), Agung Hendriadi said that Papua is the main location in the Family Farming Program. “Based on food security and vulnerability atlas (FSVA) most of the districts and cities in Papua are still vulnerable,” he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

Meanwhile, Head of Pusat Ketersediaan dan Kerawanan, BKP, Andriko Noto Susanto also mentioned that in 2020 Papua Province got Family Farming Program in four locations in District of Jayapura and District of Keerom. 

In his visit to Kelompok Tani Sinar Tani, Desa Wonorejo, Distrik Mannem, District of Keerom, Papua Province on Wednesday (11/11), Andriko was optimist that the Family Farmiing could increase the people’s welfare there.

Chairman of Kelompok Sinar Tani, Lalu Ahmad Faisal also believed that the program would be useful and give spirit to do business to increase the farmers’ economy.

“We thank Ministry of Agriculture for implementing this program,” Lalu said.

In 2020, Lalu continued that the group did plant curly chili covering 5 hectares and breed for about 25.500 catfish.

"Two thousand catfish within about 1 ton were taken in October. We sold it about Rp. 28.000/kg, while the chili was 8 times in crop since October within total production about 553 kg and we sold it Rp. 35.000/kg" he said.

Head of Food Insecurity and Procurement, District of Keerom, Idayanto said that his side would keep developing the people so that what they got could develop sustainably.

“We would always monitor every activity here by hoping that the farmers and people could be better,” he said.

Back to Andriko, he also told that the farmers should have spirit and will to get better by hoping that the program could continue to increase their economy.

“I do hope, this could be the lesson to others to imitate,” he said.

In the World Food Day 2020, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo told that family farming is important to realize food security.

“We develop togetherness and would make new accelerative program, such as, family farming. This gives chances for every family to fulfill the food needs independently. If the food security in a family is good, it will be too in the society. If it is also good in the society, the food security nationally would be good too,” Minister Syahrul told. (A2)
