Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) confirmed that the daily foods are available and in control

“We control 11 kinds of daily food and everything is in good condition. We have rice, corn, sugar, meat, and others. Insya Allah 11 commodities are in control,” SYL said, Thursday (31/12/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

But he who was the head of sub district and governor also emphasized that his side would expand food diversification as the strategy to maintain food security.

“We would expand food diversification. It means that the food should not only be rice. Every province has the local food to strengthen the food stock they need,” he said.

Head of Badan Ketahanan Pangan (BKP), Agung Hendriadi said that his side would strengthen food diversification by focusing to local food of non-rice carbohydrate sources.

“We have kinds of potential and local sources to strengthen, such as, sago, potato, banana, cassava, corn, and taro. We would expand those so that the people would depend not only on one food commodity,” he said, Sunday (03/01/2021). 

Agung also hoped that this would be better in the society by strengthening the access so that the local food done by medium, small, and mirco business (MSMB) would sell in digital markets.

“To have wider markets, we would develop them too. The people would be easier to access the local food, namely in the pandemic situation,” he said.

Ministry of Agriculture through BKP developed more than 200 local food MSMB to enter digital world. The forms of development were training to manage MSMB, making brands of products, and expanding the markets. (A2)
