Agricom.id, JAKARTA – The farmers’ exchange rate (FER) in September 2020 significantly increased. Central bureau of statistic (CBS) noted, it increased 101,66 percent compared to the FER in August 2020 which was 100,65.

Head of CBS, Kecuk Suhariyanto told that the increasing numbers are the accumulation of the agricultural exports and production in a whole. He thought that thee agriculture developed well.

“The increasing FER is the good news, namely for the farmers in the regions in this situation,” he said, Thursday (1/10/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

Based on the sector, he continued, the agriculture increased in a whole. In the food plantation sector, for instance, it increased 101,53 or 0,9 percent. The people’s plantation sub sector increased 105,76 or 2,67 percent.

"The increasing food plantation happened for the price index that the farmers got highly increased reaching 0,85 percent. In the reverse, the price index paid by the farmers decreased,” he explained.

The increasing in plantation sub sector happened for the price index that the farmers got. It was good enough because the plantation products, such as, palm oil, cocoa, rubber, coffee, tobacco, and others were in normal price.

Suhariyanto also mentioned that the main commodity that made the price index got by the farmers increase was grain. It got the better selling price in the farmers’ level. from the data, he continued, the agricultural business exchange rate nationally in September increased 101,74 percent.

"The harvested grain was Rp 4.891 per kilogram (kg) or or increased 1,53 percent month to month (mtm), but decreased 0,28 percent in year on year (yoy)," he said.

“The FER in the other two sub sectors, such as, the livestock and horticulture decreased 0,63 percent and 0,43 percent for each. But Suhariyanto hoped that it should be increasing next months.

For information FER is one indicator to know the capability of the farmers in the villages to by. FER shows the terms of trade of the agricultural products and the goods and service that the people consumed and production cost. The higher FER is, the better capability would be the farmers to buy.
