Agricom.id, LAMPUNG – The government is intensifying many thing to increase the economy nationally. Led by ministry of agriculture, the labor program runs in many regions to increase the productivity in agriculture and welfare the farmers which in the end, it could increase the economy.

Secretary of General Directorate of Agriculture Infrastructure, Ministry of Agriculture, Gunawan said that the labor program in ministry of is one prior program of Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo to increase the role of the agriculture to the economic progress in the villages. The labor program runs in Lampung province by involving the farmers to improve the irrigation that could give additional income in the form of salary.

“The goal is to make sure the stimulant has given to the local farmers, such as, the agricultural tools, and irrigation construction which cover 1.000 hectares (ha) in South Lampung and should be right on target,” he said when speaking in the socialization and technical guidance on 30 September to 1 October 2020 in South Lampung, Thursday (1/10/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

He also mentioned that the stimulant should increase the agricultural productivity and maximize the water usage to agriculture. The main focus of the tertiary irrigation rehabilitation is to improve the existing irrigation to be more maximal and make the water distribution run better.

“The program needs cooperation and participation from the farmers and in the future the success of the program could be used always,” Gunawan mentioned.

The experts of Commission IV, Indonesian Legislators, Mesah Tarigan did attend the ceremony and told that the Chairman of Commission IV, Indonesian Legislators, Sudin mentioned that the action and distribution helps from the government should be available with the regulation. This is what the government does to increase the economy nationally.

“It is planned that in the next two weeks, Chairman of Commission IV, Sudin would directly see in the field to make sure that everything runs in real time,” he said.

Tarigan also appreciated the achievements that Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo did. In Covid-19 pandemic, the agriculture massively contributed to the economy nationally while other sectors decreased. He thought that in 2020, the world is tested by the Covid-10. Every sector is hit and so is the agriculture.

“I do appreciate the agriculture because in the second quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product increased 2,19 %,” Mesah said.

He thought that from the achievement it is concluded that the agriculture has no much influence from the pandemic. In the future, the agriculture should be seriously support to mobilize the economic activity nationally. The government would accelerate the help by doing some activities in ministry of agriculture, such as, the labor program and it is hoped the farmers should be more creative and innovative to implement and support the government’s programs.

“To the field coordinators, please do yours based on the regulation. No violation. Develop the farmers and monitor the programs until they are finished,” he said. (A2)
