Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Dewan Kopi Indonesia (Dekopi) would be in cooperation with ministry of agriculture to make the local coffee better and increase the coffee farmers’ economy in Indonesia.

Chairman of Dekopi, Anton Apriyantono said that when meeting Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo in the office of Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesia Republic, South Jakarta, Friday (2/10) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

“In the future we could make house of coffee of Indonesia. It would be the information center for those who would export coffee, starting from its kinds, and the procurement which should be arranged,” Anton said.

The former minister of agriculture (2004-2009) hoped that Dekopi could have good cooperation with ministry of agriculture, starting from the program plans until thee realization. He mentioned tht the cooperation would enlighten the burdens of the government.

In many chances, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo told that many countries want to buy the coffee of Indonesia, specially the Arabica. It has specific taste.

“This is the positive one for the image of coffee from Indonesia in the international and we should maintain, and promote more intensively,” he who enjoys and drinks coffee said.

According to central bureau of statistic, the coffee export in January to May 2020 reached 127 thousand tons or increased 31,05 percent in the same period in last year which reached 96,57 thousand tons. In 2024, the coffee export should be reaching USD 2,6 billion.

Knowing this, Anton is ready to cooperate to increase the work and performance of coffee nationally.

“Of course we want a good cooperation and would be profitable and useful for the people namely the coffee farmers in many regions. Minister Syahrul really supports the plan and we would discuss the detail with general directorate of plantation,” he said.

He also explained that Dekopi is made by the regulation to be the strategic partner for the government. In this case, ministry of agriculture is the closest one to the plantation commodity.

“Insya Allah it is being prepared and hopefully, we could start in this year and I am optimist that there would be good impacts for the local coffee development,” he said. (A2)
