Agricom.id, JAKARTA – European Union virtually visited Central Java Province, Indonesia on Tuesday (9/3). Ambassador of European Union in Indonesia Vincent Piket directly led the visit to increase the trade and investment of Indonesia and European Union through the good partnership.
“Indonesian European Union – Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) which still runs would increase the investment and trade, contribute to provide employment and develop the economy in Indonesia,” Vincent Piket said in the virtual visit.
“For more than 30 years, European Union does partnership with Indonesia to get the same priority, including the trade and investment. Last year, European Union launched five year - program called ARISE + Indonesia Trade Support Facility for about 15 million Euro. The program gave technical supports for the Government of Indonesia and companies to escalate their capacity of export and to fulfill the international trade standards and policy,” he said to Agricom.id.
In the virtual visit, the delegation of European Union did cooperate with Regional Government of Central Java, Indonesian Chambers of Central Java and did panel about the advantages of CEPA. It presented Head of Trade and Economy, Delegation of European Union for Indonesia, Marika Jakas; Director of Bilateral/Negotiation, Ministry of Trade Indonesina Republic, Ni Made Ayu Marthini; Steering Committee of Multilateral Institution and Free Trade Agreement, Indonesian Chambers Wahyuni Bahar; and Vice Chairman of European Chambers in Indonesia (EuroCham), Wichard von Harrach.
In the chance, there was time to discuss the export potential to many countries in Europe by Dr. Prasetyo Ariwibowo, Secretary in duty of Central Java Province; Galih Saksono, President Director of Batang Integrated Industrial Park; Kukrit Suryo Wicaksono, Chairman of Indonesian Chambers Central Java.
The discussion was about the big potential in Central Java province namely about industries. The demands on manufacture, agriculture, furniture, and other products in European Union may be increasing in the next years after the recovery from Covid-19 pandemic. With the big costumer – base and high buying, European Union is the interesting option for Central Java to expand and diversify the exports. (A1)
