Agricom.id, GOWA – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) attended the groundbreaking of the first milk industry in Village of Tonsasa, Sub district of Tombolo, District of Gowa, South Sulawesi. It was held as the implementation of collaboration between the private, in this case, PT Cimory to develop cow milk industries equally in many regions in Indonesia.
“We would try to implement cow milk program in Indonesia. Luckily in this village, the area contour is ready to breed cow and technically it is well prepared,” SYL said, Tuesday (16/3/2021), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.
He thought that milk is the good source of nutrients to maintain the intelligence of children in the future. In addition, the milk condition in our country is about 22 percent to fulfill from the total needs nationally reaching 3,4 million tons.
"We have to empower our ability to fulfill the milk need independently. In the future we have to develop milk industries in other regions so that everyone could invest. This is the good news knowing that we (the people) could be breeding with Cimory, as the off-taker,” he said.
General Director of Livestock and Animal Health Ministry of Agriculture, Nasrullah said that the milk needs nationally are quite massive namely in the eastern Indonesia. That is why Ministry of Agriculture and District of Gowa did welcome the good will of Cimory to get the milk absorption from the breeders in Gowa.
"If we focus in Java only, the land would not be enough. This is one initiation from Ministry of Agriculture to breed cows outside of Java. Insyaallah we would start developing incubator from cow breeding in District of kabupaten Gowa," he said.
Nasrullah also mentioned that PT Cimory also breeds medium scale cows for about 500 cows and the plasma from 26 unions having about 2.600 cows. By the numbers, Cimory could produce 30 to 40 tons of fresh milk in every single day.
"We would do what we hope for in District of Gowa namely to fulfill milk needs,” he said.
President Director of Cimory, Bambang Sutantio thanked the support and cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture about the construction of milk industry in Gowa. He told that the cooperation would give big advantages to welfare the farmes and the people around.
“We do believe that the cooperation would give big advantages to District of Gowa and the people around. The cooperation would not be about cow but also the milk. Cimoy would take every drop of milk that the farmers breed,” he said. (A2)
