Agricom.id, SORONG – The red fruit demands in the domestic markets in 2019 were astonishing. Karantina Pertanian District of Sorong noted that, 14.899 liters of red fruit were sent to Surabaya and Jakarta within about 7,4 billion rupiah.

"The red fruit is the mainstay local commodity from Papua Barat though it is in the small scale but it could be exported to many countries,” Head of Badan Karantina Pertanian, Ministry of Agriculture, Ali Jamil said when being with Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo released the red fruit exports to Chekoslovakia and other commodities in the Port of Sorong, Sorong, Wednesday (26/2/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

Ali Jamil thought that the coordination and cooperation among the instances and related agencies could develop the agriculture within export oriented area – base.

Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo appreciated the ministry of agriculture, the regional governments, and also the stakeholders for their hard work.

“There are lots of potential from Papua Barat to optimize. The modern technology and investment should play the roles to accelerate the increasing exports of the agriculture commodities, both from Manokwari or Sorong so that the farmers get the better income and welfare. One thing for sure, this would impact to the economy,” he said.

Red fruit, he continued, has been exported to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Czechoslovakia.

Based on Central Bureau of Statistic,  the agriculture exports in the early of 2020 increased the highest year on year (YOY) compared to the others in the previous sectors which reached about 4,54 percent.

"It needs to know that what we are doing should be sustainable. Complete and fulfill every condition, sanitary, and phytosanitary internationally. The climate and investment would develop by itself when we keep doing the innovation and improvement of the service governance,” he said. (A2)
