From Papua Barat, Syahrul Urged the Sustainable Investment in Agriculture

Agricom.id, SORONG – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo attended Pertemuan Tingkat Tinggi Investasi Hijau for Papua and Papua Barat, in Hotel Swiss-Bellhotel, Sorong (27/2/2020).

"This is important about how the businessmen (stakeholders), the partners, and the government could discuss and make dialogue to get the solutions. Of course, by making innovations to develop the economy,” he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

The two period – former governor of Southeast Sulawesi and got the best rank as  the Kepala Daerah Inovatif 2017 for being capable to manage the regional potential to develop many sectors, said that the agriculture has the big chances to increase the regional economy.

“The plantation and horticultural commodity are potential to develop, such as, cocoa, and Arabica coffee. I believe, within the touch of technology, processed in the latest ways and good management, Insya Allah, it would be positive,” he said.

He also mentioned that ministry of agriculture noted that cocoa has 12 12 thousand hectares which are potential and coffee has about 165 hectares to develop.

"There are lots of agricultural potential to develop by sustainable investment,” he said.

The available areas for the plantation commodity, according to the Governor of Papua Barat, Dominggus Mandacan, would be about 5,4 million hectares.

"The commodities which are good to develop are cocoa, coffee, jambu mete, palm oil, cotton, sugarcane, coconut, and areca nut. But only 2,3 percent of the areas are advantaged still, or about 127 thousand hectares," he said.

As the support of ministry of agriculture in the meeting, Minister Syahrul gave helps of Agriculture Infrastructures to Papua Barat which the governor himself got the helps about 49,6 billion rupiah. (A2)
