Agricom.id, JAKARTA – The lecturer of Agriculture from Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Economy and Management, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Harianto supported what ministry of agriculture does to increase the agriculture production through the national action to increase the productivity and the production of agriculture in 2020.

"I do support to increase the agriculture product because we have to maintain the food from Indonesia in facing the climate changes and global economic dynamic,’ he said in the meeting coordination of Dewan Ketahanan Pangan in Hotel Bidakara, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/3/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

He thought that it needs serious action because the climate changes could make other countries crisis and difficult to increase the agricultural production quality.

“On one side, this is the good chance for Indonesia for getting the demography line. There would be young successors of farmers,” he said

He also said that the demography bonus would be profitable for Indonesia for there would be more than 10 billion of new generations in the world. That is why it needs seriousness to face the changes by preparing everything to strengthen the food needs nationally.

For information, the dry season 2019 was much bigger than it in 2018. Last year dry season was influenced by the Indian Dipole Mode (IOD) within the positive position around the second semester of 2019. The 2019 dry season was influenced by the temperature of sea surface in southern Indonesia which much colder than it was in general.

“Indonesia should increase the readiness or preparedness to face the dynamic. I am optimist that we could be equal or even surpass Singapore to the readiness,” he said. (A2)
