Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo made sure that the rice stocks heading to fasting days and Lebaran in the future days are good and in control. The stocks could fulfill the people’s needs when limiting the social interaction because of the corona virus (Covid – 19) within Work from Home (WFH) system

"We have the stocks of the rice up to 3 million tons. In the end of March – April we would do harvest. If everything runs well, there would be additional rice up to 8 million tons. We have good stocks,” he said when visiting PT. Food Station Tjipinang Raya, East Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3/2020).

He also mentioned that at least, there 11 commodities that the government monitors intensively, they are, rice, corn, union, garlic, big red chili, cayenne paper, cow/buffalo meat, hen, egg, sugar, and cooking oil.

“We keep validating the data. Insya Allah, it is good. If the stocks are enough, they are not expensive. We believed that the stocks in badan urusan logistik (Bulog), the markets and around the circumstances are big enough,” he said.

“I am optimist to know the stock available. In Jakarta, the rice has no issue actually. We just back-up every region in Indonesia,” he told.

Meanwhile Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Arief Prasetyo Adi made sure that the stocks of rice in Jakarta are in control though we are facing the Covid 19.

"We have 30 thousand tons of rice in Pasar Induk Beras Cipinang (PIBC), East Jakarta. The numbers are enough to fulfill the needs in Jakarta,” he said (A2)
