To Anticipate the Covid Pandemic, The Government Guarantees the Food Availability

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – To anticipate the spread of corona virus (Covid-19) and heading to the national religious day in 2020, the government keeps maintaining the availability, the stocks of food, and the strategic price food commodity.

The way is done by, such as, signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) among the food suppliers and the producers about the availability, stock stabilization, and price in Jakarta, Friday (20/3/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

"The signing is our commitment to maintain the stocks and the price stability facing the Covid – 19 and heading to the fasting days and lebaran,” Head of Badan Ketahanan Pangan, Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Hendriadi said after signing the MoU.

He also told that the signing is the same with what Minister of Agriculture told, so that every side could cooperate and be in synergy to maintain the food, namely when facing the Covid epidemic and religious days.

General Director of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono representing minister of agriculture in the event did appreciate the food producers and suppliers for being committed to maintain the food availability and stability.

“This is our work together for the country and the nation to provide enough food for 267 million citizens of Indonesia,” he said.

He also told that from the food balance perspective, the strategic foods are enough, but the distribution and the price stability need the roles from every side, namely the suppliers to fulfill the stocks in the markets.

The sectors in the memorandum cover the procurement, the distribution and the price stability of 11 (eleven) main food commodities, they are, rice, corn, hen meat, cow meat, egg, cooking oil, sugar, red chili, cayenne paper, union, and garlic.

The producers and the suppliers of the food commodities are Perpadi, PT. Food Station, PT. Datu Nusantara Agribisnis, PT. Asian Agro, PT. Musim Mas, PT. Wilmar Nabati, PT. PN Holding Company, PT. Makassar Tenee, PT. Permata Dunia Sukses Utama, PT. Binagloria Enterprindo, Poktan Kembang Sari, Asosiasi Champion Cabai Jawa Tengah, Gabungan Usaha Pembibitan Unggas, PT. Duta Putra Perkasa, PT. Suri Nusantara Jaya, and PT. Berkat Mandiri Prima. (A2)
