About Covid-19, The Legislators asked for that the Agriculture Should be the Prior

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – The agriculture sector should be the prior needs to face the spread of corona virus (Covid – 19). “This sector should not be underestimated for it directly has something to do with the basic human need,” the member of Commission IV, Indonesian Legislators, Hamid Noor told in the press release, Monday (23/2/2020).

"The most important thing in this situation is the access guarantee of food should be easily got within normal price for the citizens,” he said.

He thought that the spread of Covid - 19 would be dangerous and influencing many sectors, such as, the production disturbance of the farmers in many regions.

“I told and asked for the government to make the official statement and regulation to make sure that the farmers got the better income within the good price but not disturb the import activities,” he said.

About this, ministry of agriculture has guaranteed 11 daily needs to support the policy, Work from Home (WFH) to stop the spread of Covid 19.

It is done by signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the food suppliers and the producers about the availability, stability and price of food. It is the commitment of the government to maintain the three things in facing the spread of corona and heading to the fasting days and lebaran.

In the meeting with the businessmen in the office of ministry of agriculture, General Directorate of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono asked that every side should involve provide the food in Indonesia, namely the suppliers and the producers.

“This is our same job for the country and the nation to provide enough food for 267 citizens of Indonesia,” he said.

The eleven daily foods are rice, corn, hen meat, cow meat, egg, cooking oil, sugar, red chili, cayenne paper, union, and garlic. (A2)
