The Mushroom Business Prospect in the Pandemic of Covid - 19

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Mushroom is the organism which is heterotroph, a parasite as the saprofit to the dead organic things. But who knows, as the matter of fact, mushroom has kinds of nutrition that the people need.

The flesh of mushroom has kinds of protein which are the same produced by the animals but it is healthier to consume. Compared to the protein in the egg, the mushroom, namely the straw mushroom has the essential amino acid in the egg. The lysine and the histidine are better than those in egg.

These make the mushroom good to make business. Besides there are lots of chances to do it.

About this, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) instructed that the horticulture commodity should be boosted, namely those having the big potential economy.

He believed that the horticulture commodities, such as, mushroom would have the good prospect, both in the quantity and the quality.

Director in duty of Vegetables and Medicine Plantation, General Directorate of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture, Sukarman said that the consumption of mushroom in Indonesia is high enough. “But our production just reached 33 tons/year,” he said, Saturday (11/4/2020) as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

It means, he continued, that from the consumption, lots of people are fond of mushroom. From the producers, there are lots of chances to cultivate and produce.

“There are kinds of mushroom to cultivate and consumer, such as, mushroom merang, oyster mushroom, mushroom kuping, mushroom shitake, and button mushroom. These are easy to get in the supermarkets and traditional markets,” he said.

About the supports from the directorate, he continued, his side would give the helps of houses of mushroom to develop the region; give the technical development to develop mushroom well to increase the productivity.

“And the farmers who are difficult to get the capital, they could access kredit usaha rakyat (KUR),” he said.

One business of Karawang, West Java, Saepudin told that this is a good business. He could not fulfill the market demands.

“The local demands reach 100 kilograms per day. I myself could produce 30 kilogram per day, and 50 kilogram if being in harvest. These are the local still, such as, Cikampek, Kosambi, Wadas, and Jatisari,” Saepudin said.

He thought that in the pandemic of Covid-19, the demand volume drastically increases, namely mushroom tiram which tends to be stable but never decreases.

“It does not influence too much. Until now the planting process and the production run actively,” he said.  (A2)
