Agricom.id, JAKARTA - Ministry of agriculture targeted to accelerate the second planting in 2020 within the total areas about 5,6 million hectares. It is the way of the ministry of agriculture to anticipate the drought.
Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that his side prioritized to accelerate the planting because in May to June the rain still falls down, while the peak of dry season would be in August 2020.
"We have done the video conference (vicon) with some governors and regents. Everyone is optimist to accelerate the planting. One thing for sure, the acceleration would be followed up to the regent and there would be monitoring,” he said through the Agriculture War Room (AWR), Tuesday (12/5/2020) as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.
In the previous, May to April were the time of massive harvest and would end in June 2020 in some regions within the total areas about 7,46 million hectares.
He thought that the agriculture sectors depend on the weather, disaster, pests, and the food security management. Every officer in ministry of agriculture should anticipate the drought to minimize the bad situation.
“We do our best, including the analysis from Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Agriculture to determine the good fertilizers, and the good seeds to plant. If everything runs well, our food would be secured,” he said.
On the other hand, Syahrul continued, ministry of agriculture would give the helps, such as, combine harvester, tractor, dryer, multivato, and other tools to the regions in need. Within the limited budget, and after the budget was cut off, it is hoped that the helps would be the solution to increase the production.
In the previous, President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) told his officers to prepare the strategies to anticipate the prediction that 31 percent of dry zone regions would be dryer than the areas in last year. The president emphasized that it is important to do mitigation policy so that the increasing dry season in this year would not diturb the availability and the stability of the daily food price. (A2)
