Agricom.id, JAKARTA - Ministry of Agriculture planned to do Gerakan Percepatan Tanam which was officially inaugurated by Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo through the video conference in the Agriculture War Room (AWR), Ministry of Agriculture, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/5/2020).

The plan was joined by the governors, the regents, heads of agriculture agencies in the districts in Indonesia.

"Indonesia is the vast country. We need more efforts, integrated ways, cooperation so that we could fulfill food for 267 million of citizens of Indonesia. If we got the success, in this year, we need to realize the bigger success for this country,” he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

This acceleration, he thought, is the anticipation that the dry season which is about to come by advantaging the rain which still falls down, just like President Joko Widodo told in the meeting.

In the previous, based on the report of geophysics, climatology, and meteorology agency, President Joko Widodo told that some regions would be in longer dry season than it as it was.

SYL thought that of 34 provinces, there are 8 mainstay provinces, 9 main provinces, and 16 developing provinces. Within the infrastructure helps, such as, irrigation, agriculture business, kredit usaha rakyat (KUR), insurance of agriculture business, and logistics and distribution system, he and other agriculture stakeholders are optimist to be able to provide food in this situation.

“The total areas to plant in the second season or in the dry season of 2020 would be 5,6 million hectares. Insya Allah, the governors, the regents, and the heads of agriculture agencies are committed. Though in the pandemic situation, we would do the best to keep producing,” he said.

He also reminded that the hard work is not enough because there are conditions to do.

“Everything could be realized within conditions. We have to prepare the pre-condition which covers, the seeds, the fertilizers, and others within precise calculation. If it misses, it would be fatal,” SYL said.

He also thought that the other thing to do is to see the moment. Having 25 years as the head of regions, SYL emphasized that the seeds and the fertilizers would be useless if the moment passed.

“It needs to manage the water by knowing when to pump, open the flow, and others.

The last, he continued, is there should be prior scale. By knowing the prior, the programs of the government would be effective and efficient. (A2)
