CBS: January - May 2020, Only Agriculture Exports Increased

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – In January - May 2020, the exports from Indonesia reached US$ 64,46 billion or decreased 5,96% compared to the same period in the last year, 2019 which reached 68,54%. While the non – oil and gas exports gave US$ 60,97 billion or decreased 3,50%. The non-oil and gas exports gave 94,58% of the total exports in January - May 2020.

Head of Central Bureau of Statistic (CBS), Suhariyanto said that the decreasing exports took place in many sectors except agriculture. The oil and gas exports significantly decreased up to 34,93%, the processed industries decreased 0,08%, while the mining sectors and others decreased 21,02%.

"Apart from the agriculture, many sectors had negative exports. The agriculture, in the period increased the exports up to 5,63%. This happened for the increasing fruit exports,” he said in the live streaming "Data Ekspor-Impor Mei 2020", Monday (15/6/2020).

Seen from the countries, the non-oil and gas exports in the period had not change. The main exports were still China reaching 17,04%, the United States of America reaching 11,84%, and Japan reaching 8,69%

 

The Labors’ Salary Increased

The salary of the agriculture labors, according to Suhariyanto, increased in May 2020 to be Rp 55.396. The numbers increased 0,14% compared to it in April 2020.

"In the nominal, it increased 0,14% because in May 2020 the household consumption index in the villages had deflation reaching 0,07%, the real salary of the agriculture labor in May 2020 got better and increased 0,21%," he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

But it was different from the construction labors. CBS noted that the labors’ salary in May 2020 was Rp 89.684, or increased 0,01% compared to it in April 2020.

"The daily salary could be flat or increased 0,01% only because in May 2020, there was slight inflation reaching 0,07% and the real salary of the construction labors slightly decreased 0,06%," he said.

Head of Public Information and Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Kuntoro Boga Andri said that the indicator of economy was nearly negative but the agriculture developed though the pandemic still hits.

The total agriculture exports in the period reached US$ 1,43 billion while in January-May 2019 they reached US$ 1,35 billion. This sector always gives hopes and contributes positively for the economy nationally. “Everyone needs food. In the pandemic, every social and trade activity would reduce, but the agriculture still positively runs. This is the good news for the economy nationally,” he said. (A2)
