Agricom.id, JAKARTA – To guarantee the rice stock, ministry of agriculture keeps increasing the agriculture activity, such as, by producing the superior paddy seeds to be planted in the vulnerable areas to the flood, drought, or durable to the pest. This is essential because the seeds are the sources of productivity and determine the success of cultivation.

“Seeds are the factors to succeed the cultivation. The adjustable variety with the natural condition would increase the production,” General Director of Food Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi said in Jakarta, Saturday (4/07/20) as in the official info to Agricom.id.

He also said that his side is optimizing the swamps as the strategy to secure the food stock nationally in the dry season namely in the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic. The swamps to be cultivated in Kalimantan are the lead of Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) to guarantee the food production, namely the rice.

“We do hope that it is necessary to empower the producer farmers independently to get easy access in the superior seed in each region, and there is also program of desa mandiri benih," he said.

He also mentioned that some paddy superior seeds were the result of agriculture technology. Here are the lists of paddy superior seeds based on kinds of areas in flood, drought, or pest organism:

1. in the flood areas, the seeds to plant could be Inpara 3, Inpara 4, Inpara 5, Inpara 29, Inpara 30, Batanghari, Banyuasin, Siak Raya, Lambur.

2. in the dry areas, the seeds to plant could be Inpara 10, Inpara 18, Inpara 19, Situbagendit, Inpago 6, Inpago 7, Inpago 8.

3. in the areas where the pest could attack, the seeds could be Inpari 5, Inpari 7 , Inpari 21 , Tukad Balian, T.Unda, T.Petanu.

4. in the areas which are vulnerable to WBC, the seeds could be Inpari 13, Inpari 18, Konawe, Inpari 31, Inpari 33.

5. in the areas which are vulnerable to blast, the seeds to plant could be Inpari 11, Inpari 12, Inpari 17, Batang Piaman, Batutegi, Inpari 32 HBD.

6. in the areas which are vulnerable to kresek, the seeds to plant could be Inpari 1, Inpari 4, Inpari 17, Inpari 18, Conde, Angke, and Inpari 32 HDB.

There are kinds of new superior varieties which are designed within the agriculture technology innovation to have specific superiority from other kinds, such as, the seeds within high potential productivity, such as, PH (Hipa 5, Jete dan Hipa 6, Ceva), PTB Gilirang, Cimelati, Ciapus, Mekongga, Inpari 6.

The varieties within premium rice are Memberamo, Ciherang, Cigeulis, Cibogo, Konawe. These kinds within durability of biotic stress starting from the tungro durability are Tukad Balian, T. Unda, T.Petanu.

The varieties to improve the biotic stress durability and could be tolerant to water (flood) for 14 days are Inpara 4 dan Inpara 5. The varieties which are tolerant to Fe poison are, Inpara 1 and Inpara 6.

“The varieties which have good smell are Sintanur, Batang Gadis, Situ Patenggang, and Gilirang. The varieties which are superior in the early age are Inpari 1, Inpari 12, and Inpari 13," Suwandi mentioned. (A2)
