The Joint Research: IDI – Ministry of Agriculture, The Independent Support to Advantage the Nature

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Chairman of Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI), Daeng M Faqih supported the research and development of eucalyptus that the researchers in ministry of agriculture have done.

“The researchers in ministry of agriculture has done the initial research and it is good. If it would be used to heal the human, it needs further researches. We would support this cooperation (joint research),” he said after signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pertanian (Balitbangtan), Ministry of Agriculture and IDI in the hall D, head quarter of ministry of agriculture, Wednesday (08/09/2020) as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

He also mentioned that the cooperation is the start of independency to get more natural potential in Indonesia knowing that the material of medicine and what the people consume are mostly imported. If everything could be produced in the domestic, it would be better.

“It is purely done from the nature in Indonesia. This is strategic. It needs support to answer our independency and IDI thought that this is important. This is the early support of commitment and capability so that the health industries could do something. We have no issue where it is from. Coincidently it is from ministry of agriculture,” Daeng said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) told that his side through Balitbangtan did early research and development to get the variants from eucalyptus as the answers to what the people fight for corona virus (Covid-19).

“In Balitbangtan, we have laboratory to research, the plants, and also the researchers. If we do not activate these, the potentials would be useless. Implement the health protocol and we might have the anti-virus. We needs further test with IDI,” he said.

The signing of MOU between Balitbangtan and IDI is the sector synergy to support One-Health concept, human, animal, and environment health for the people.

“The cooperation between ministry of agriculture and IDI is done by hoping that there would be further research based on the competence,” he said.

In the same occasion, the Secretary of Balitbangtan, Haris Sihabudin said that there are variants of eucalyptus that Balitbangtan developed.

“There are four variants which have been registered to ministry of laws and human rights, they are, anti-virus aromatic formula, inhaler, powder, and atsiri eucalyptus oil,” he said.

For information, the rights patent registration number for the anti-virus aromatic formula in eucalyptus – base is P00202003578; the ingredients for eucalyptus anti-virus inhaler and the making process is P00202003574; the powder ingredients for eucalyptus anti-virus nanoenkapsulat is P00202003580; and atsiri eucalyptus citridora oil as the anti-virus to avian influenza virus subtipe H5N1, gammacorona virus, and betacoronavirus.
