Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Regent of Dompu, Bambang M Yasin (HBY) thought that Indonesia should have the food storage (depot) to maintain the quality of the plantation for several months to go by advantaging the modern technology.
He told that when meeting with Minister of Agriculture, SyahruI Yasin Limpo (SYL) in the head quarter of Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesian Republic, Jalan Harsono RM, Ragunan, South Jakarta, Tuesday (14/7/2020).
"We proposed that Indonesia should have corn depot in some regions. Hopefully in 2021 there could be one place that could gather millions of tons of corn,” he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.
He also thought that Minister SYL supported the idea. Bambang mentioned that Minister SYL is ready to support anything to prepare the food for the people’s need.
“I am trusted by Minister SYL to help and accomplish this idea. At least next year, we would have pilot project of the agriculture commodity,” he said.
On the other hand, he also thought that the programs in ministry of agriculture have given the advantages to the farmers in his region, namely about import policy.
"Ministry of agriculture did not publish the recommendation to corn import and this is very good for us. It means that the local corn could be sold and helps the farmers,” he said.
For information, for the last ten years, District of Dompu always harvests the corn for about 10 thousand hectares in average and produces about one million tons of corn in every single year.
“We do hope, what we have told could be a serious idea to realize because corn that we produce in every single year could be stocks for Indonesia,” he said. (A2)
