Agricom.id, MAJALENGKA – In the dry season this year, kinds of vegetable in many vegetable centers are in good condition. Some commodities, such as, cabbage, white mustard, and onion have good production and the price tends to be cheaper, such as in Majalengka. The vegetable production keeps being stable to supply the local and other markets.
This is the good news. Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo always reminds that the food sector should be the main focus of the government. Keeping the stocks from the upstream to downstream is one point in nawa cita of President Joko Widodo that ministry of agriculture should do.
It was revealed when General Director of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture, Prihasto Setyanto did field visit to the vegetable centers in Sub district of Argapura and Pasar Induk Sayuran Majalengka, Sunday (9/8). "This is good that the vegetable production here is good when the dry season takes place. Besides in the areas, I directly checked to the local market. Some commodities, such as, onion, cabbage, mustard, carrot, potato are in big numbers,” he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.
The man called Anton said that Argapura Majalengka is good to plant the vegetables in high land. “For all these years, Argapura is known as the biggest vegetable producer in Majalengka. Onion could be harvested for about 450 hectares in one overlay for one planting. It could be twice too. The farmers mostly plant batu ijo and sumenep. The farmers got profits too, about Rp 17.000 per kilogram,” he said. in one harvest, they could get more than Rp 100 million.
Meanwhile, when harvesting garlic in the area test that the stakeholders and the farmers do in Village of Cibunut, Argapura, he said that the local garlic could be bulbous. “This is good though it is not maximal for being lack of water. The wet bulbs in weight could be about 13 tons per hectare,” he said. The area is good to plant garlic but it needs to be more selective in choosing the seeds. “Plant the big one to be the seeds so that the result could be imported,” he said.
The coordinator of Gapoktan Sinar Raharja, Village of Cibunut, Iwan is happy to make partnership with the importer to develop the garlic. He hoped that the helps from the government and the importer could run right on time. “We hope that the onion and garlic planting would be on schedule to get more harvest,” he said.
