Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that fruits in Indonesia are in good quality and could compete with the fruits from others. Many thought that the best tropical fruits are from Indonesia.

"Ministry of agriculture would do better cultivation for the fruit namely the certain kinds that the world needs, and everyone likes it,” he said when attending the launching of the fifth Gelar Buah Nusantara (GBN) in Jakarta, Monday (10/8/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

In the chance, he also told that the main export of pineapple to the United State America (USA), Netherland, Spain, German, and Japan reached Rp 1,5 billion. The mangosteen exports to China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and French reached Rp 1,09 billion.

"The main exports of mango were to Singapore, USA, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam. Our thorny palm, rambutan, durian exports reached more than Rp 9 billion,” he said.

He hoped that every integrator that helps and arrange the concepts should contribute to the nation.

“Any agricultural commodity is needed could be well prepared. Specifically for the fruit, based on the export data to China, it reached Rp 94 billion and the imported ones reached Rp 45 billion. We still got the surplus and this is the chance,” he said.

Minister of Trade, Agus Suparmanto told that the horticulture commodities namely the fruits have the big potential to make the exchange more and the mainstay in the nowadays trade.

“Based on central bureau of statistic in June 2020, the fruit exports increased 23,21 percent which reached US$ 430,4 million," he said.

The exported fruits are mango, beans, and pineapple and the countries are Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India. (A2)
