Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Coordinator Minister in Economy, Airlangga Hartarto did appreciate the big contribution of the agriculture sector to the economy nationally. He thought that the agriculture could survive and as the heaver in the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The horticulture is the mainstay because the export potential is good enough. of course we would support it namely to develop the horticulture industrial region,” he said when attending the launching of the fifth Gelar Buah Nusantara (GBN), Monday (10/8/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

He also mentioned that the fruit exports from Indonesia increased 73,4 percent. This is the good sign that the agriculture and plantation have the good durability in any condition.

“This is the sector that has big domestic market chance. Cavendish banana region has been developing in Lampung, Tanggamus, Jembrana Bali, Blitar, and Aceh. It is also developing in Bondowoso Banyuwangi and other 16  regions in East Java and Sumatera," he said.

He told that the agriculture sector has the big challenge about the farmers’ exchange rate (FER). It would be mitigated by the horticulture plantations, including the fruits, and other plantations that could the heaver in the agriculture.

“I know that the fruits would be the heavers to increase the agriculture sector namely when the people around the world need much vitamin,” he said.

Knowing this, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo is ready to produce in big capacity and would give the best service to the people.

“What we experienced is that the ministers have good relationship one to another led by coordinator minister in economy. I am part of them and would prepare it,” he said. (A2)
