Agricom.id, MALANG - Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo inaugurated Taman Sains Pertanian Jeruk in Kota Batu, Malang, East Java, Friday (14/8/2020). It is the entertaining park within the science and agriculture technology concepts.

“Today we make sure that in the Covid-19, one thing that never gets loss and what becomes the part of life is agriculture. The agriculture always keeps the promise,” he said.

He thought that the agriculture could be the most minimal sector to spread Covid-19 for it fulfills the daily needs. The farmers keep producing and fulfill the market needs. “It means that many industries need the domestic agriculture. This is the moment not to depend on the import,” he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

He also thought that advantaging the agriculture as the needs of life is the order of President Joko Widodo. When Covid-19 hits, the people should get the promising chance.

"Kota Batu is famous of qualified apple for many years. Make your apples as best as you could. But please, not only the apple. You can develop others which have big potential,” he said.

He also asked for his officers in ministry of agriculture to develop, prepare anything that the farmers need to support the agriculture.

Head of Badan Peneliti dan Pengembangan Pertanian (Balitbangtan), Ministry of Agriculture, Fadjry Djufry said that his side has collected hundreds of orange seeds in Indonesia.

“The area is for science and integrated to onfarm. We have produced something new. Of course it should be massive in the field in the first place. In the last five years we have distributed 5 million orange seeds (small trees) to many regions in Indonesia. “We do hope that they could develop more,” he said. (A2)
