Agricom.id, BARRU – The regent of Barru and ministry of agriculture did the first harvest in Kelompok Tani Syukur II, Village of Mangempang, Sub district of Barru, District of Barru, South Sulawesi Province, Tuesday (18/8/2020). The Inpari 30 harvest was done in a 7 hectare area within the bulbs reaching 4,7 tons per hectare in average.

The harvest ‘Pengembangan Petani Produsen Benih Padi Berbasis Korporasi Petani’ was about to increase the farmers’ capacity to produce qualified seeds from the upstream to downstream sectors to encourage the seeding nationally, independently, sustainably, and increase their income and welfare.

The Regent of Barru, H. Suardi Saleh thanked for the district got the allocation of paddy seed corporate program. It is real and increased the quality of the harvest and the farmers’ economy.

“District of Barru has massive potential if the agriculture index could be increased up to two to three times of planting in a year. He hoped that by the corporate’s management, the position of the farmers would be better, there would be the markets, and price guarantee,” he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

In the occasion, he also did detaselling with ministry of agriculture in the seeding location of Korporasi Jagung hibrida, the Nasa 29 for about 30 hectares in Village of Kemiri, Sub district of Balusu.

In the same spot, Head of Sub Directorate of Food Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Andi Muhammad Saleh told that based on what Minister of Agriculture told, the increasing paddy production through Pengembangan Petani Produsen Benih Berbasis Korporasi is to welfare the farmers.

“Minister of Agriculture did appreciate the farmers who increased the agriculture up to 16%,” he said.

He also mentioned that the advantages of seed corporate are the harvest of the seed candidates would be bought by the partner. The seed results would be used to fulfill the seed needs independently.

“It would solve the difficulty and the postponement of seed with 6 right ways. Besides, the farmers would be proud of producing their own seeds,” he said.

It is hoped that the success could be done by other farmers in District of Barru and there would be seed producer farmers in the region.

“The most important thing is to realize District of Barry as the paddy seed producer in South Sulawesi and as the food barn nationally,” he said.

Meanwhile the representative of Agriculture Agency, District of Barru, Sueb said that the whole seed candidate was bought by the parter, PT. Pertani. It would be processed to be seeds.

“The seeds are about to provide the seeds in this region,” he said.

In the other place, General Director of Food Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi said that the qualified seed is one factor to boost the production. To guarantee the qualified seeds, Ministry of Agriculture through General Directorate of Food Plantation would facilitate the helps to the farmers, such as, the infrastructure of seed production, such as, the seeds, fertilizers, pesticides as the stimulant.

“The farmers could access the fund, such as, kredit usaha rakyat from the banks,” he said. (A2)
