Agricom.id, JAKARTA - Marijuana is categorized as the herbal plantation since 2006 in the Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 511 / 2006. But it  is discussed after several ministers of agriculture substituted. Decision of Ministry of Agriculture is perfected to be Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 104 / 2020 about Developed Commodity of Ministry of agriculture that Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo signed on 3 February 2020.

Head of Public Relation and Information, Ministry of Agriculture), Kuntoro Boga Andri said that Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 104/2020 still puts the previous commodities which were in the Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 511 / 2006, adds some emerging commodities that are economic potential.

“It has been since 2006. Why do you argue now? Why is Decision of Ministry of Agriculture 104/2020 published about the developed commodities? Because ministry of agriculture accommodated the new emerge, such as, ‘porang’ and swift nest as the developed commodities,” he said.

Meanwhile Director of Vegetable and Medical Plantation, General Directorate of Horticulture, Ministry of agriculture, Tommy Nugraha told that after the Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 511/2006 was published, ministry of agriculture developed and took marijuana farmers to plant other productive plantations and eliminate marijuana at the moment.

"Marijuana is categorized as the herbal plantation. It is planted only for the medical urgency and legalized in the Laws of Narcotics. That is our reference,” he said, Saturday (29/8) as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.

Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo is consistent and committed to support the misusage of narcotics and would revise the decision of ministry of agriculture after coordinating with the other stakeholders, such as, badan narkotika nasional (BNN), ministry of health, and lembaga ilmu pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI).

The commitments of SYL are to ensure that the officers in ministry of agriculture are free of narcotics and actively giving the education to plant the food horticulture, and plantations with BNN in the regions where marijuana is potentially and illegally planted.

In the previous, SYL and Deputy of People’s Empowerment, BNN, Dunan Ismail Isja actively involved in the Grand Design Alternative Development (GDAD). It is the cooperation between ministry of agriculture and BNN to minimize the marijuana planting and reduce the prevalence of narcotics misusage by planting hybrid corn for about 11.017 hectares in Village of Bate Raya, Sub district of Juli, District of Bireuen, Aceh Province.

"Ministry of agriculture wants to contribute to change the people’s way of thinking and empower them by planting the useful and profitable ones,” he said.

At the principle, ministry would give license to cultivate the plantations as written in the Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 104/2020, but still noticed the regulations.

The plantation misusage, he continued, is one thing to notice and it is regulated.

“The Laws of Horticulture in Chapter 67 mentioned that the horticulture plantations which could be the loss for the people could be planted for the health service and or for the science, except it is regulated,” he said.

In the public discussion about marijuana as the herbal plantation in Decision of Ministry of Agriculture No. 104/2020, ministry of agriculture is open and let review or revise it. For information, there is no one marijuana farmer is legal and developed by ministry of agriculture. (A2)
