CBS: August 2020, FER and ABER Significantly Increased

Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Central bureau of statistic (CBS) claimed that the farmers’ exchange rate (FER) in August 2020 increased. The numbers were significant. Besides, the agriculture business exchange rate (ABER) in August increased too. It was 100,84 or 0,31 percent (m to m).

Head of CBS, Kecuk Suhariyanto said that the increasing FER and ABER happened for the farmers’ received price index was much bigger than the farmers’ paid price index. It was noted too that the farmers’ received price index increased 0,39 percent.

"The FER in Bangka Belitung was the highest one reaching 3,64 percent. In the contrary, the FER in Maluku was smallest decreasing reaching 1,21 percent," Suhariyanto said, Tuesday (1/9/2020).

But he continued, two food derivative sub-sectors decreased, they are, the horticulture and livestock. But both the FER and ABER in January - August got better in a whole reaching 101,21.

"We also noted that the paid price index decreased 0,17 percent," he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

Head of Public Relation and Information Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Kuntoro Boga Andri was grateful for the indicators of the farmers’ economy got better. He told that this is the hard work of the farmers, and the government in agricultural sector.

“This is the collective and collaborative work results just like what Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo told in many chances that the agricultural activity is the same work, not only ministry of agriculture but also every element from the farmers, the heads of villages, heads of sub districts, regents, and the governor,” he said.

For information, FER is one indicator to the farmers’ buying capability in many villages. It is also about to know the terms of trade of the agricultural products to the goods and service that the villagers consumed or spent to produce.

In the previous, the agricultural sector also contributed to the increasing gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2020. The agriculture was the only one sector getting positive progress of five sectors that contributed to GDP in the period. (A2)
