Agricom.id, MALANG - Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo encouraged the superior seed development in District of Malang. He thought that District of Malang is very potential to develop the fruit and horticulture plantations development.
“We are here to make sure that the programs in Malang would keep running and we would support to produce the qualified and excellent seeds,” he said when doing work visit in District of Malang, Thursday (3/9/2020).
Minister Syahrul also mentioned that District of Malang has been famous and expert to produce the seeds. This happened for the collaboration between the farmers’ groups and the regional government runs well.
“I am here to witness that our avocado seeds are well developed and I believed that this would contribute to produce high qualified avocado in Indonesia,” he said, as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.
Minister Syahrul did appreciate regent of Malang who prepared the agricultural production infrastructure completely and the groups are motivated to innovate and become the mainstay nationally.
“The regent of Malang did the extraordinary things. If every regent could do this, the groups would be developing and our plantation quality would be better too,” he said.
One avocado seed breeder from Kelompok tani Karya Makmur, Gapoktan Nakula, Nyoto is happy because ministry of agriculture always helps by giving trainings, the post-harvest tools, the cultivation, and agriculture system tools massively.
“Thanks for the helps. The villagers now know modern agriculture, starting from the soil treatment, fertilizers, until the seeding to plant,” he said.
More than that, he continued, the avocado business significantly increases namely in the last two years. He mentioned that the harvests were supplied to many regions.
“The avocado demands are massive. The 1,5 year old avocado could be sold for about 22 million rupiah and the five year old avocado could be 7 million rupiah to sell," he said.
For information, Village of Wonorego, District of Malang has two hectares to breed avocado. Of the numbers, 30 thousand avocado trees are ready to harvest. (A2)
