Agricom.id, MAGELANG - Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo is serious to solve the regions within susceptive food insecurity so that the people could fulfill the food needs.
Head of Badan Ketahanan Pangan, Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Hendriadi told that through food insecurity alleviation, it is hoped that the people could fulfill their food needs independently and increase their economy.
“We do hope that through this, there would be increasing income and the farmers’ economy gets better. It is not only about planting but should increase the income,” he said when visiting Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Sido Lestari in Village of Bendungrejo, Sub district of Ngablak, District of Magelang, Central Java Province, Wednesday (9/9) as in the official written statement to Agricom.id.
“I re-emphasized that the helps from the government should have the additional values through the multiple numbers of animals and the areas so that the farmers get better,” he said.
Chairman of Gapoktan Sido Lestari, Taryono told that his group is planting vegetables and breeding sheep. “We have 82 sheep and they are in the members’ cages,” he said.
He also mentioned that the feces of the sheep could be the fertilizer to the planting. The urine of the sheep is as the organic fertilizer.
Besides breeding the sheep, Taryono continued, his group is planting the vegetables, such as, chilly, tomato, broccoli, cabbage, mustard green, and lettuce in a three hectare area.
“We independently supply the water from the lower area but in the future, we should be able to buy water pump,” he said.
Back to Agung, he also targeted that by the end of this year, there should be 150 sheep.
Meanwhile, Head of Agriculture and Food Security Agency, District of Magelang, Romza said that his side would always monitor that the helps could be developing sustainably. He also thank for the helps by hoping that the people in the area could have strong and better food security.
“We would keep monitoring the food insecurity alleviation and hope that this could increase the farmers and people’s economy,” he said. (A2)
