Agricom.id, Jakarta – President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked for the people not to waste the food but in the reverse, he told that the people should do the new culture by respecting each food (if they have).

“To realize the food security, some things should be considered as our reference, namely from the warning of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) about food crisis,” he said in Bogor, (15/9/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

For information, based on the data, the waste from food in Indonesia in every single year could be 1, 3 million tons or per people could produce 300 kilograms of food waste. If it is calculated, each 1,3 million ton of waste could produce Rp 27 billion. The irony is that 19,6 million people of Indonesia are lack of nutrient still. If it is consumed, 27 billion rupiah could feed 28 million men per year.

Head of Public Relation and Information Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Kuntoro Boga Andri said that ministry of agriculture always does campaign ‘don’t be food waste’ and what president told would be confirmed in the society.

Kuntoro thought that Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo always emphasized, the young generations should understand the food process from the beginning until it is prepared to eat in the table (of dining room).

It is about to realize the food security based on the healthy food system for the great young generations, and to realize the development ideas nationally.

“We do hope that the millennial generations also understand that it takes some time for the farmers to fulfill the food, and many people still need good food. We should leave ‘wasting the food’, or don’t be food waste,” he said. (A2)
