Agricom.id, JAKARTA – Head of Agriculture Information System and Data Center,  Akhmad Musyafak did report that the agricultural exports in August 2020 significantly increased reaching 8,6 percent or increased to be 2,4 billion America compared to the same period in last year which was 2,2 billion America.

"In cumulative, the agricultural exports in January-August 2020 reached 2,4 billion America or increased from the previous which were 2,2 billion America," Musyafak said, Thursday (17/9/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

Besides, he continued, the agricultural processed products increased in the same period. This proved that the agriculture is the certain solution to improve the economy when Covid-19 still hits the world.

“The processed products in January-August 2020 reached 15,92 billion America or increased 5,4 percent compared to the same period in 2019 which reached 15,09 billion America," he said.

The same increasing happened to the farmers’ exchange rate (FER) in August 2020 reaching 100,65 or increased 0,56 percent compared to July 2020 which was 100,09.

"If seen from the sub-sector - sector, FER which increased  were food plantation sub - sector and plantation sub - sector. The horticulture and livestock sub – sectors decreased,” he said.

For information, FER is the proxy indicator of the farmers’ welfare, it is about to know the ability of what products that the farmers needed in their production and consumption.

The order of quality in the sub - sector to calculate FER covers, the food plantation 47,37 percent, the plantations 25,39 percent, the livestock 13,71 percent, horticulture 10 percent, and fishery 3,53 percent. It means, the higher quality it is, the more influences to FER.

"The commodities which have quality (numbers) more than 5 percent in each sub - sector are food plantation sub - sector covering, the grain 75,44 percent, corn 13,95 percent, and yams 521 percent. The plantation sub - sector covers palm oil 26,54 percent, rubber 26,37 percent, cocoa coffee 7,87 percent, sugarcane 7,62 percent, and clove 6,46 percent.

The horticulture sub - sector covers the onion 12,61 percent, cayenne pepper 12,11 percent, chili 10,87 percent, potato 8,43 percent, banana 6,48 percent, and orange 5,75 percent. The livestock sub - sector covers cattle 39,69 percent, broiler 21,13 percent, egg 12, 11 percent, and dairy cow 6,39 percent.

The inflation in August 2020 for the food, drink, and tobacco group is the smallest one of the other groups reaching 0,86 percent (deflation).

"The inflation in this year for the food, drink, and tobacco group in August reached 0,79 or smaller than it in the general inflation which reached 1,32 percent," he said.

For information, the inflation in 2020 for food, drink, and tobacco reached 1,31 percent. This is categorized as the creeping inflation. It means, there would be incentive for the business but would not burden the consumers. It will not difficult for the economy. (A2)
