Agricom.id, BOGOR – Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) directly saw the artificial insemination of the local cow and from other countries in the laboratory and main cage of Balai Embrio Ternak (BET) Cipelang, District of Bogor, West Java Province. SYL noticed the crossbreed, the nursery of the cows through the sophisticated technology.

“I do hope that in every single year, there should be acceleration to make more calf within much semen and many inseminations massively,” he said, Saturday (19/9/2020) as in the official statement to Agricom.id.

SYL also mentioned that the superior and qualified calf acceleration is the order of the president to fulfill the animal nutrients for the people of Indonesia. That is why, ministry of agriculture as the leading sector in agriculture and livestock planned to multiply the same laboratory in many regions.

“One thing we should develop in the future is to multiply the embryo in Indonesia. Hopefully we could have many like this in each province,” he said.

He also thought that Balai Embrio Cipelang is the modern livestock spot for it fulfill the international standards. This place could make the superior calves by the latest technology, such as, the laboratory and clamp machine to cut the nail of calves.

“The standards in Cipelang are international ones. I know that there are good result and the cows are big,” he said.

For information, the cow population in BET Cipelang reached 627 cows. They consist of 211 donor cows, 211 receipt cows, 139 are in young age, and 56 calves. The donor cows are the healthy female and are the subjects to produce embryo to fulfill the standards.

Head of Balai Embrio Ternak Cipelang, Oloan Parlindungan Lubis said that the donor cows derive from many kinds in Indonesia, such as, the simmental, FH, limousin, PO/SO, belgian blue, wagyu, and angus.

Oloan also said the embryo in Cipelang is the qualified one derived from the donor and the qualified male. Their breeding is helped by the competent human resources and supported by modern equipment.

“Every embryo of caw which is produced or transferred or in simple language ‘test – tube baby’ would be distributed to many regions in Indonesia to make the better genetic in many regions,” he said. (A2)
