Agricom.id, JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) told that it needs to confirm the food security nationally in each region. This is a must to anticipate the possible food crisis just like the Food and Agriculture Organization told some time ago.
He thought that the anticipation could be done by the food estate concept that combines the farmers’ unions and the agricultural unions.
Knowing this, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo is ready to monitor tightly by confirming the cooperation among the related ministries and institutions.
“The cooperation runs tightly. Nothing does alone and everything should help one to another,” he said, Wednesday (23/9/2020), as in the official statement to Agricom.id.
He also told that in the field, ministry of agriculture would make the better food plantation diversity, such as, the horticulture, the plantation, and the livestock.
“We do not have paddy only, but the horticulture, plantation, and livestock. Insya Allah the cultivation of 30 thousand hectares would be executed next month and followed up by the planting,” he said.
Technically, the first week in October, there would be land cultivation by using the tools, such as, tractor, drone, and other heavy tools. It is planned that President Jokowi would directly cultivate the areas.
“The president hoped that there would be mechanism and technology when cultivating. We have prepared the seeding system and the fertilizers by using drone and we would empower the farmers. Insya Allah after the kick off, the planting would be finished in the 30 thousand hectare areas,” he said.
By the cooperation, he hoped that Indonesia would have the new food barn that could help the food stock needs nationally and make the qualified production.
“We do hope that the industries would be the end. We would not sell the grain only but also the qualified rice that could be sold to the market place. If it is in good data, it could produce the export quality and we have good stocks and could increase the income nationally,” Syahrul said. (A2)
